Suwon glide through to the knockout stage by winning 1-0 at Kashima courtesy of a Dejan goal. Sydney couldn't beat Shanghai Shenua at home anyway, so even if Suwon had lost they would still have qualified. As pointed out at the top of this thread, the order of the group was exactly the same as it was in 2011. Suwon have now been matched with Ulsan in an all-Korean tie to be played in the first half of May. There will be domestic derbies in Iran and China too.

Thai side Buriram also got through by beating Jeju 1-0 in Seogwipo, which helped them past Cerezo Osaka. There are three Chinese teams, three Korean and only one Japanese side in the last 16. There's also only one Saudi team in the last 16 but two from both the UAE and Qatar.

Round of 16

Al-Jazira vs Persepolis
Al-Sadd vs Al-Ahli
Zob Ahan vs Esteghlal
Al-Ain vs Al-Duhail

Tianjin Quanjian vs Guangzhou Evergrande
Buriram United vs Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors
Ulsan Hyundai vs Suwon Samsung Bluewings
Kashima Antlers vs Shanghai SIPG

Jeonbuk rather embarrassed themselves losing 3-2 in Thailand, but at least they got two away goals. Former Ulsan and Sangju player Yoo Jun-soo set up Buriram's first.

The all-Korea first leg finished 1-0 to Ulsan. The return leg is Tuesday in Suwon.
