The 'Guess The Stadium' Thread

Postby willamangiro » Thu Jan 12, 2012 10:58 pm

I've seen this on quite a few other football forums, and thought it might be fun to try it on here. Basically its exactly as the title suggests; one person uploads a photo of a stadium, the person who gets it right then puts up a new one. The stadium can be anywhere in the world, and the correct answer just needs to be the team name rather then the exact stadium name. If the winner doesnt post a new stadium photo within 24 hours then anyone can post one. Sound ok?

Ok, so to get things started, one of my favourite stadiums;

Braga in Portugal. With a bunch of Danish fans, Denmark-Bulgaria in 2004?

The problem with image questions is you can often just follow the source code to the original article. I'll have to think of a way around this.

It's Braga in Portugal.

Is that Denmark v Bulgaria? I was at that game! Mental stadium, personal favourite of mine too.

I can't upload photos because it says my board allocation has been exceeded. Those of you who have access to my Facebook: if someone wants to download and post that photo in my album from my recent bike trip it should make a good 2nd in this series!

Yeah, absolutely right, I wish all stadiums were designed in such an inventive manner! I have no idea how you stop people just following the source code to the article though, so if you work it out then let me know

I think one way is to copy the image and then resave it on something like imageshack or attach it as an image here. It'll have to wait until later though for me to do it.

Floating Stadium in Singapore.

Mine isn't perhaps in the stadium category but if you know where I live you can probably work it out quick enough.

lol. Me too!! Was meant to be meeting an Italian mate at their game in Porto, but woke up in a minibus full of these Bulgarian nutters we knew on the way to their game instead! Awesome stadium - I agree - and one of my personal favourites as well.

Just to add here that the ability to upload files has been switched off as I have my suspicions that's a potential way for hackers to gain access to a site and may have been partly responsible for the whole redirect issue we had last week when the board was getting upgraded.

So aye, http://www.imageshack.us is pobably the way to go if you want to avoid leaving clues when linking an image.

I have found Google's Picasa software sort of good. It allows images to be uploaded to picasa's servers and then share the link here. You can "batch" upload a whole directory of stadium pictures to the server that way.

I noticed my photos on the club travel pages have gone. Lost forever? :smt089

It's Kiwitea Street in Auckland.

Here's one with another famous backdrop behind the goal.

Yes, their new ground, still named after the old owner who built it and I think still owns it, the Kassam stadium.
