What's happened to nzfooty?

The U-20 World Cup in New Zealand has started. North Korea have a team there, but not the South. How will we keep up?

I am going to go to a game or two...problem is most games in Auckland are evening and the winter weather has set in...drizzly with a chilly wind, not great to be sitting in.
Quarter final is a 4:30 so might hit that one up.

I'm paying for my misspent youth.

As for the tournament, changwonmatty has a point - not the right time to host this tournament, and he is in the warmest part of the country.

Really terrible performances by Asian teams. The only exception I guess were Uzbekistan (though even they required a huge favour from Fiji
who shocked everyone by beating Honduras 3-0).

AFC teams at the 2015 World-Cup (and interesting mix of teams, missing the usual suspects):

Myanmar:
United States 2–1 Myanmar
Myanmar 0–6 Ukraine
Myanmar 1–5 New Zealand

Qatar:
Qatar 0–1 Colombia
Qatar 0–4 Portugal
Senegal 2–1 Qatar

North Korea:

North Korea 1–5 Hungary
Nigeria 4–0 North Korea
Brazil 3–0 North Korea

Uzbekistan:
Uzbekistan 3–4 Honduras
Germany 3–0 Uzbekistan
Fiji 0–3 Uzbekistan
2nd R:
Austria 0–2 Uzbekistan
QF:
Uzbekistan 0–1 Senegal

Semi-finals
17 June 2015
Brazil v Senegal
Serbia v Mali

I did intend to go to the quarters but on Sunday evening it was about eight degrees, non stop drizzle and blowing a southerly gale.....no cover at North Harbour Stadium for that kind of weather....I had a friend that went but left after 60 minutes, just too cold and miserable....0-0 thriller so I didnt miss much.

Curious that the teams that ended up doing well in the cold winter of New Zealand are known for their skillful approach to the game (Brazil and Serbia) while a week later the teams that are doing well in the warm summer of the Czech Republic in the UEFA U-21 tournament are known for their robust approach to the game (Denmark, England, Germany and Sweden).

I hope I haven't just helped Portugal to the title. :smt109

Voting is open for the "official slogan" for the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup to be held in Korea next year. All three options are tremendous, I really hope the second one wins...
