After the K-League...

Postby Holyjoe » Mon Jun 06, 2005 7:55 pm

I did one of these on the old board so seeing as this kind of thing interests me then I'll just go ahead and do another one.

---------------------------------

Aurelian Cosmin Olaroiu (Suwon, Romanian) left the manager's job at FC National to join up with Politehnica Timisoara who recently got a ton of money after being bought by the Balkan Petroleum concern (apparently).

Pavel Badea (Suwon, Romania) was manager of Universitatea Craiova but he got the dunt in March and the side have subsequently been relegated.

I'm not entirely sure but it looks as if Sasa Drakulic (Busan, Suwon, Seongnam, Serbia & Montenegro) has left Cypriot side AEK Larnaca after only playing a handful of games with the club. He's been spotted back in Korea a few times but I don't know if or where he'll be playing in 2005/06.

Alen Avdic (Suwon, Bosnia) is at FC Sarajevo and he won the Bosnia-Herzegovina Cup a couple of weeks ago so he'll be in the UEFA Cup next year. Expect him to dunt Dundee United or Hibernian then :)

Slavisa Mitrovic (Suwon, Bosnia) is playing for Al-Wahda in Abu Dhabi after having returned to FC National.

Zanko Savov (Cheonbuk, Macedonia) is manager of Macedonian league side Cementarnica Skopje.

One-time Busan trialist Neil Tarrant (Busan, Scotland) is at Barrow FC in the English Conference North after joining them from Norwegian side Raufoss in January 2005.

Jamie Cureton (Busan, England) and Jon Olav Hjelde (Busan, Norway) might be following Tarrant into the lower reaches of the English football leagues as both are free agents after being ditched by QPR and Nottingham Forest respectively.

Andy Cooke (Busan, England) is still with Bradford City, and Chris Marsden (Busan, England) was recently forced to retire through injury at Sheffield Wednesday.

Ivan Medvid (Cheonbuk, Croatia) is with Siroki Brijeg in Bosnia.

It looks as if Ivan Testemitanu (Seongnam, Moldova) has returned to FC Sheriff in Moldova after being dumped by Seongnam, and they won the championship this season - expect him to help dunt Celtic out the Champions League qualifiers then.

And lastly, Finnish defender Jukka Koskinen (Anyang, Finland) is at FC Lahti in Finland, and ex-Motherwell manager Harri Kampman is in charge of the club.

They have one hell of a kit:

More when I can be bothered...

A few more of these:

After just one substitute appearance for Chunnam, Richard Offiong is now back in England playing for Doncaster Rovers reserves.

Marian Aliuta (Chunnam, Romania), who was dumped by the club earlier this year after making a grand total of zero appearances for the Dragons, has joined Ukrainian side Metalurh Donetsk.

Jamie Cureton is now playing for Swindon in English League One, and former Busan teammate Jon Olav Hjelde is at Mansfield Town one league below.

Another name the surfaced recently was Michel Pensee Bilong (Ilhwa, Cameroonian), who had an unsuccessful trial with Hibernian after leaving MK Dons.

Miodrag Andjelkovic (Incheon, Serbia & Montenegro) has recently joined Metalurh Zaporizhzhya after leaving Cerezo Osaka.

And of course Zoran Urumov (Busan, Suwon, Serbia & Montenegro) has now returned to his homeland with FK Rad Beograd.

Some of the guys I know:

Ahmed Elrich (Busan) is in the premier league, with Fulham, and considered part of the future for Australia's world cup hopes.

Harry Castillo (Busan) is in the Colombian first Division, with the team he was developed in, Millonarios, and they are currently leading the table.

Tommy Mosquera (Busan) in the Colombian second division with Cucuta Deportivo, after an unsuccesful spell with River Plate's second division team

Gaucho (Busan) In rio Ave, a small first division team in Portugal. his stats? 29 games, 4 goals, 10 yellows
ZZZ..

Former K-League star Sasa Drakulic (Busan, Suwon, Seongnam, Serbia & Montenegro) is now on the books of Serbian top division side FK Vojvodina after having spent a year in Cyprus with AEK Larnaca.

As MipoFanatic posted, Jamie Cureton has moved off to Colchester United on loan.

Ivan Testemitanu was also on the move, leaving FC Sheriff for Russian first division side FC Chkalovets 1936.

Lucio Alejo Filomeno (Busan, Argentina) is now at MLS side DC United, where according to the DC website "Filomeno spent time with Busan in the K-League (Korea), where he scored six goals in 15 games, before joining United in September".
As far as I can tell he only made eight Hauzen Cup appearances and didn't score for Busan, and he wasn't selected for the AFC Champions League either.

Former Suwon midfielder Gabriel Popescu has retired at the age of 31.

JEF United's Popescu retires

CHIBA (Kyodo) JEF United Chiba announced Friday the retirement of former Romania midfielder Gabriel Popescu. Popescu, 31, joined Chiba from South Korean club Suwon Bluewings this year and scored one goal in seven J. League first-division games.
