The domestic league finished a few months ago. It didn't end too well for Al-Jihad finishing bottom, but Al-Jaish recently made the quarter-finals of the AFC Cup. The university in Damascus is open, the airport still has regular flights, the government is still paying salaries. The US and some EU governments have as much trouble with the latter.
