ACL - to defend or not?

AFC Champions League, Asian Cup, and everything else domestic and international.

Should ACL winners be allowed to defend their trophy automatically the following year?

Ulsan were essentially knocked out of the 2013 ACL in the qualifying phase (aka "K-League").

If they were to create an extra spot for the defending champs that wouldn't penalize a team from that same country that actually qualified from the domestic competitions, I'd support that. But I certainly don't think Suwon should be punished. They were 5 points Ulsan's superior last year, and thus qualified for the next phase, if you see what I mean.

At the end of the day, the ACL is just the biggest cup competition. But it's still just a cup. The league is the real measure of the best clubs.

I went to Wikipedia for 2014 AFC CL

Seems the 2013 winners and runners up enter the AFC CL in the February qualifying stage. Any confirmation?
