Korea Under 23s vs. Kuwait (June 1st)

Postby modernseoul » Sun Jun 01, 2014 4:37 pm

Korea Under 23s vs. Kuwait (June 1st)
Incheon Asian Games Stadium @ 4pm

A limited number of tickets were made available for free this week. Sadly I only found out about this yesterday and it was too late. The game is being used are a stadium tester, photo op and Asian Games warm up match (although none for the games are being played at this stadium).

The starting 11 features a number of promising K League players:

GK 노동건(수원)
DF 최성근(사간도스) 황도연(전남) 장현수(광저우 부리) 곽해성(성남)
MF 윤일록(서울) 손준호(포항) 이재성(전북) 김승대(포항) 안용우(전남)
FW 이용재(레드스타)

My newsfeed is lit up with Incheonites complaining about the stadium and particularly the horrible lines of sight.

Other complaints seem to be the distance it is from the main part of town, and the horrible traffic going there and back.

There's pretty horrible traffic trying to get to anywhere in Korea though. Is there a subway station at the new stadium?

At the end of the day its not a football ground so maybe a bit unfair to judge it based on how well it copes with a football match on its first outing.

Looks like a pretty decent attendance from the game:

The attached article says that there are 30,304 permanent seats and 32,514 temporary seats which make up the 62,818 capacity of the stadium. They must be planning on removing the whole of the second tier around 3/4 of the stadium and a good bit of that large main stand if it's to be halved in size after the Asian Games... wonder if another city has already got these seats earmarked for a new venue?

Closest Station is Geoman but it's still a bus ride away. The new subway (Incheon Line 2) won't be finished in time. Connecting roads are also still a work in progress.

The pitch and even track look a mile away from the stands.

I wonder if that's a result of the upper tier being temporary rather than an integral part of the stadium? Any photos of the view from the lower tier?
