2013 U-20 World Cup

Postby SteveW » Fri Jun 21, 2013 2:46 am

Hadn't noticed this one but the U-20 World Cup starts tomorrow (21st) with a match between Cuba and Korea.

Not sure if there is any coverage anywhere but might be of use to anyone looking for some footy action.

I enjoy the junior world cups a lot.....one of the Korean channels will certainly have it as the Korean juniors are in it.
Dont expect Korea to do too well though, they are taking a pretty weak side.

NZ's hosting it in 2015 so something to look forward to.

Not sure we'll fair in this edition though. Probably hoping to scrape out of group play.

This game was a lot more entertaining than any of the 'a' matches I've seen recently. Lots of neat passing, passing into space, fast play. It'll be interesting to see how they get on in theor tougher group games.

I just watched the whole game not knowing the score this morning. 2-1 to Korea against Cuba. Decent enough game and Korea snatched it late in the game.

Don't fancy staying up half the night to watch the england v iraq game tonight, or portugal v korea tomorrow. Does anyone have any idea if either of these will be re-run the following morning on tv?

Apparently Ryu seung woo has earned a move to Borussia Dortmund on the back of this.

Interestingly enough he's turned down a deal with them saying he'd rather begin his career in either Korea or Japan as there's more chance of him playing proper competitive football than at Dortmund.

If he could get himself in to Dortmund's reserves he'd probably play in front of similar sized crowds in the German 3rd division as he would in the K-league. The football standard is probably not that different either. Most of the teams in the German 3rd play at least as competitively as teams in the K-league do, although Dortmund's reserves are probably the equivalent to Daejeon's "does it really matter?" crowd.
