Ansan OB Rovers Citizen

Postby SteveW » Fri Jul 15, 2016 7:52 pm

News doing the rounds on Twitter than the cops are planning to move out to Asan as a new citizen team will be formed in Ansan next season.

Bizarrely the suggestion was that if the Police team gets promoted then they will stay in the Challenge and the new team would take their place in the Classic.

That's really unfair. The new team should start from the Challenge like E Land

I think the City do some stuff to promote the team but AFAIK they don't actually fund the football club at all. Having said that the city has been getting closer to the team and I think the name change was also part of that push to make them less the police team and more the Ansan team.

I presume what is being suggested is that the city takes over Ansan Mugunghwa and the Police relocate their team and players to Asan hence why the 'new' Ansan team could in theory start in the Classic.

New team confirmed for Ansan. The city may take over Ulsan Mipo, relocate them and enter them into the K-League.

Not sure about this project. Is Ansan capable of carrying a K-league team?

I think it's capable and the city seem quite keen on having a team.

Whether the people of Ansan get out to watch it is another question but it will surely be better to have a citizen team than just be housing the police. If they take the Ulsan Mipo team they should be competitive at least (in at least not being embarassed) but i have no idea what budget the team will have.

A bunch of Ansan fans used to come and support Suwon until last year with a "20km doesnt make difference" catchphrase if i am not wrong.

So far i havent seen them this year in Big Bird. Maybe changed to Suwon Fc as it is closer to them than East Suwon.

At least the Police can play in the Classic if they will finish first. Was really unfair to see the new team straight in Classic

I say let them build it up then when the city gets tired of funding them that's when we pounce!

give it 3-4 years. Hope you're all saving your money to invest!

This will be Ansan club number three playing at the Wa~, all three teams having been based somewhere else prior to relocating there. That's got to be some sort of record, at least OB Rovers would have been an original Ansan side!
