I've actually been there. There probably aren't many grounds in the world that are that close to a runway. Geoff Thomas with a freak wind and the ball would be bouncing across the runway.

I asked a couple of the guys down there why they couldn't play in the local Spanish leagues. They reckoned there'd just be too many fights.

I'll take a wild guess--looks like it could be 1966 when Brazil didn't make the knockout stage of the world cup. They hence played all their games in Goodison Park, Liverpool--is that it? The defenders look like they could be either Hungarian, Bulgarian or Portuguese.

Pele is playing for Santos in that pic... I'm going to guess that the blue and white opposition is Sheffield Wednesday as it was posted by daeguowl so that would make it Hillsborough. Daft question perhaps but is that a hill behind the goal or a very oddly shaped bank of terracing?

Yes it's the Spion Kop at Hillsboro from a match between Santos and Wednesday from 1972. It is built on a small hill, natural or not i dont know. Of course now it's roofed and evened up.

Referees have a problem with that sort of thing in Germany.

Time to revive what is surely one of the more enjoyable threads here on ROK Football!

This one is a ground (or perhaps even simply a pitch) rather than a stadium. It is very obscure - probably doesn't even have a name. So rather than a name, which village is it near?

Clue: it's in Ecuador, not too far from where famous tortoise Lonesome George recently died.

Well done, Google Maps Warrior!

As I said, definitely an obscure pitch. I came upon it completely by accident one day - but no doubt Cyclops has already been there. :smt111

Cheating a wee bit as this hasn't been built yet but saw the plan on another website and figured it would go well in this thread:

Some of the medal events of the 1956 Melbourne Olympics were held in this castle-like stadium, but which club plays there now?

Djurgårdens IF Fotboll. The equestrian events were held in Stockholm (Sweden) due to Australia's quarantine laws at the time.
In Yangju, if your cabbage doesn't understand you and you have valid reason for not eating it, then it is ok to go to other vegetables for your kimchi - though strictly nothing from south of Namyangju. -- Martyrs Forever
