Answers to nearest 1,000 with date of estimate in brackets. Suwon and Ulsan, and Daejeon and Gangwon are basically a statistical tie. I had a fair idea that Pohang would be bottom, disgrace to the league that their travelling support is.

Seoul 10,442,000 (2012)
Busan 3,590,000 (2012)
Gyeongnam 3,160,000 (2010)
Incheon 2,901,000 (2013)
Daegu 2,528,000 (2012)
Jeonbuk 1,873,000 (2012)
Chunnam 1,741,000 (2010)
Gangwon 1,552,000 (2012) (+1,478,000 in the North)
Daejeon 1,539,000 (2012)
Suwon 1,160,000 (2013)
Ulsan 1,145,000 (2011)
Seongnam 994,000 (2012)
Jeju 583,000 (2011)
Pohang 520,000 (2011)

2013 population of South Korea is 50,000,000. So there's about 16,000,000 missing from the list, mostly from Gyeonggido, who have a fair number of lower league clubs.

Since things are a bit quite round here, here's one from my recent Korea trip that I was saving for emergencies.

In his book K-리그 레전드 (K-League Legend) Bae Jin-gyeong has a chapter on a K-League legend for each year since the start in 1983, including the likes of Kim Ki-dong (2011), Pariahs (2007), Hong Myeong-bo (1997) and Pak Gyeong-hun (1988). But what is unique and remarkable about the entry for 1992?

The answer's on the internet easy enough, so if you don't know have a guess!

I'll say that it was given to a fan rather than a player. Or a referee. Or the floodlights. The legend of 1992 was Cheonan Ilhwa's floodlights.

I think I know the answer, but I'll sit this one out and watch from the sidelines to see if anyone else can steel in with the answer...

Something to do with Pohang, then? :)
In Yangju, if your cabbage doesn't understand you and you have valid reason for not eating it, then it is ok to go to other vegetables for your kimchi - though strictly nothing from south of Namyangju. -- Martyrs Forever

What is the expiry date on this question?
There are two routes to success in football. One is being good. The other is being lucky. You need both to win a championship. But you need only one to win a match.

That's a good question. Are you going to have a guess at the K-League Legend? No one has the right answer yet, even if some aren't a million yards away.

I even tried to cheat with Google. No idea at all.

Based on the early 90s time-frame, I'm going to guess that it was given to a legendary Korean player (some might even say THE legendary Korean player) who never actually played in the K-League/Super-duper-league, but had returned to manage in it.

It looks like we'll never get rid of this one at this rate, despite both me and Holyjoe dropping hints along the way.

1992's entry is the Steelyard. The only stadium on the list. The Steelyard is officially a K-League Legend.

mfk was pretty close with Sarichev as that is the 1993 answer.

Bump.

Today's match between Sangju and Incheon has been postponed because an absolute shitload of rain has ruined the playing surface. Going back to the start of the K-League in 1983 then how many matches have been postponed on the day they were due to take place (ie not called off, changed or moved the day before)?

Has a match ever been called off and not postponed? (save that for another question if the answer is interesting)

I once went with Hootsmon to watch Incheon vs Pohang only to find at the sstadium that the match had been postponed due to a power cut. I can't remember if they found out about it the day before, but me and Hootsmon only found out half an hour before kick-off and I'd made the trip all the way from Seoul.

I'm with Rothesay, this must happen all the time. I'll go 20 times in 34 seasons.

I can only think of one other occasion off the top of my head...there was a Gyeongnam game rained off a few years ago. Still it must have happened a few times, especially in the early years. I'll say 13
