2011 K League schedule change : 성남,경남

Postby anamerican » Wed Mar 09, 2011 3:05 pm

Seongnam City has decided in their infinite wisdom to sod the pitch at Tancheon, again. Don't ask. They are elected wise overloads and as such we much bow to their every wish. Cough cough.

April 30 Seongnam : Gyeongnam game has been moved to Gyeongnam!!
Aug 20 Gyeongnam : Seongnam match has been moved to Tancheon!

Seongnam will spend rounds 5,6,7,8,9 away from their worthless stadium.

I'm expecting KLeague cup matches to also be moved, but I have no word on that.

That means Gyeongnam has a tonne of home games from mid -april till late-June...I imagine some of these will played outside Changers.

From April 20th until June 25th there are 10 games at home (7 K-league and 3 cup games)...lots of football coming up soon then. But then after that there is only 1 home game for 6 weeks....crazy.

Bit of australian habit of shortening names or making them sound a bit better.

If they play away from Changwon where do they head? Always like the option of another place to visit? I havent been down to changwon since the Asian games in 02. Is that the stadium they use, seem to remember a race track near the one i visited...

They dont play at that old stadium anymore (thank god) but at a new football specific one that was opened last season.

I feel a trip coming on to take in the new place then, always a good excuse to leave Seoul. Thanks for info.

It's a really nice stadium, Waeguky. No running track and beautiful backdrop of the Gyeongnam hillsides. Well worth the visit.

KingKenny, REALLY? Is the game still Saturday night? I hadn't made any traveling plans, even though I was hoping to visit a good number of stadiums this summer. It seems all the stadiums I wanted to visit Seongnam is going to in April. :) My wife won't like that. I'll never go to Jeju! Not interested in the cost.

Is there something significant about April? Or is it just the fact of potentially being gone several weekends in a row?

Oh, yeah. It's just the weekends in a row. I can head off to Yeosu or Busan any weekend I want but the weekends in a row will be frustrating due to cost. Honestly, except for fuel, the trips might be cheaper than staying near home.
