Where do Gangwon actually play?

Postby toffeebrandon » Sat Apr 18, 2015 11:57 am

Hi all,

I was planning a trip to watch Ansan away at Gangwon, when I thought it might be a good idea to double check the actual ground. That's when I found that the official Gangwon site is advertising the match at 속초종합운동장 as opposed to 강릉 stadium which seems to be venue everywhere else.

Has anybody been to a Gangwon home match this season to confirm whether it is in Seokcho or Gangneung?

Thanks

It's Sokcho for almost all the games this season. Won't be Gangneung as their stadium is being tarted up for some sort of festival later this year (meaning Gangneung City are playing in Gangwonland). The Kleague website has it for Sokcho too.

Are we calling Sokcho for the 48 Club then? I'm holding off on seeing Gangwon till I work out where their 'home' ground is.

Do Sokcho this time and Gangneung when they play there again eventually...two in one.

They've played in Gangneung, Wonju, Chuncheon and now Sokcho. You gotta catch them all! :smt117

I have seen Gyeongnam play in five different stadiums...I include all them....I missed the Milyang, Geoje and Hapcheon games...could have been eight.

I succesfully survived Seokho Sports Complex. It is conveniently located about 15 minutes by taxi out of the city and in the middle of nowhere, so if you are going via public transport, you'll need to call a taxi to get back to civilisation, there was seemingly no chance of finding a 빈차 around there.

The away end is located around the back of the stadium. Follow the signs for the "Army Zone". And expect over zealous ground staff enforcing the stadium's alcohol ban, at least in the away end (which also has no toilets!!!).

Here are a few snaps...

Love the snap of the Ansan team bus out the back window of the taxi.. you've clearly been bitten by the bus porn bug if you're scrambling for your camera in that kind of situation! :-)

Ha, I gained the itch to photo buses after seeing the thread on here years ago.

I'll have to fish them out and upload them!
