Anyone have any recent pictures of the place? One place said the stadium was supposed to be finished in 2010...Is that true? Scratch that construction on at least the stadium resumed in April 2010

Well, no news or pictures from me but I'd love to know any news....I like Munhak a lot but a new, smaller stadium with no bloody running track? I'll take that very happily!

Hootsmon, go to page 3 of the link above.

It has photos from about this time last month. Seems fairly well advanced but I'd say they are at least a year away from having the stadium built and probably 2 years away from having all the landscaping, bells and whistles finished. As for the giant apartment buildings that will block out all sunlight to some poor nearby neighbourhood, I have no idea.

Some more photos from the supporters union site : http://www.incheonutdfan.net/bbs/zboard.php?id=myh_arenapark&no=2

As of 2009, the construction was due to finish by Dec 2010 and stage the first round of 2011 season. The construction was delayed, for some 'business-related' reason, as far as I know, for a few month late 2009. According to the matchday magazine of IUFC, Arena Park will be ready in some time around 2011 and 2012.

The stadium will have 20,000 seats, which is just perfect to make an avid atmosphere, and the gap between the pitch and stand will be very short.

Can't wait for it!

I fancy a trip over to see a game in the thing. I lived for a year and a half very close to the stadium. Maybe I'm a closet Incheon fan...I'll root for Incheon to be runner up every year to Seongnam. How's that?

Not good enough I guess! Can't forget 2009 Championship... That painful memories. :smt086
I live close to Tancheon and visit there if there aren't any Incheon games. I'm planning to go there for the Posco Cup match this Sunday!

Isn't all the pictures in another thread?

Stadium name: 숭의운동장 (Sungui Stadium)

Anyone been there?

(guessing) The local outdoor market is protesting the new mart that will be put in at the stadium.

See some images of the stadium.

Wait wait wait, I don't see a ditch for the fans to fall into!!! I see a few meters between the first row of fans and the pitch. I'm seriously tempted to get a season ticket to 숭의 for 2012!!

Question? If the fans are so close to the action and the fans think the ref is not being fair, rushing onto the pitch to harass the ref is expected right?

This stadium seems likely to put all the others to shame.

You have never been to Changwon then...we are as close to the action as this plus a beautiful backdrop to go with it

You're correct and I do plan to get down to Changwon one of these days. I do have a question. How tall is the wall around the pitch? 숭의 seems to have a VERY small wall, but that could just be an illusion from the pictures.
