Here's my account of Seoul United's game at Jamsil Olympic Main Stadium a couple of weeks ago;

And as they more usually play at Nowon these days, here's the one from my visit there in 2011;

Finally my visit to Hyochang in 2010 when I got there too early for their game and saw a University match instead.

Only briefly skimmed this article but there are suggestions a Chinese development company may be looking to buy the land that the Olympic complex sits on as part of a wider development plan in the area for. There's a graphic in the article that says over the last five years the stadium complex has made a loss of a whopping 523억원 and they don't want to carry that financial burden much longer...

If it involves knocking down the stadiums I hope they don't do it and given the number of construction projects that are now falling through it seems unlikely but it would make a lot of sense if they did. The baseball stadium is falling down anyway and LG and Doosan could move to the brand new (run out of money to complete?) empty one in Guro. I'm not sure what the Main stadium is used for other than the odd concert and Yonsei and KU playing football once a year. Did go and see the WWE at the Basketball stadium next door a few years ago though there are plenty of venues in Olympic Park itself that could accommodate that kind of thing and Basketball itself.

It would leave Seoul in the unusual position for a big city - or even small town - in Korea of not having a big empty stadium with a running track.

Think I'd genuinely be a bit gutted if they knocked down the Olympic stadia.

More grist to my 'Seoul needs two K-League teams' mill...

I noticed more concerts recently are being held in Seoul World Cup stadium. Odd. There's not as much room as in Olympic Stadium. I'm thinking of a sold out crowd at Seoul World Cup stadium dancing while not dancing because they can't move. Where's the space?

Here's what I'd do. Knock down Olympic Stadium and then sit down with entertainment companies and the kleague and devise a way to build a proper stadium that would accommodate both needs.

Knocking down the stadium would definitely be sentimental for a lot of people.
