Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma

City: Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do
Stadium: Tancheon Stadium
Capacity: 16,000
Formed: 1989
Division: K-League
Honours: K-League champions (1993, 1994, 1995, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2006), FA Cup (1999), League Cup (1992, 2002, 2004), Korean Super Cup (2002), Asian Champions Cup (1996), Asian Super Cup (1996), A3 Champions Cup (2004)
Website: www.esifc.com

How To Get There
The easiest way to get to the Tancheon stadium from Seoul is by subway.
  • Take the Bundang line (yellow line) to Yatap station.
  • Exit the station via exit 3 or 4.
  • The Tancheon stadium is a ten minute walk from the subway station exit. Walk straight down the street from the subway exit until you come to the Tancheon river and you can see the venue across the bridge (or stepping stones, if you prefer).

If coming to Seongnam from elsewhere in the peninsula, your bus is likely to terminate at the Yatap Bus Terminal which is located very close to the stadium. The bus station is on the same side of the river as the subway station, and it takes approximately the same length of time along almost an identical route to get there.

Ticket Prices
Admission is 9,000 won, with discounts if for whatever reason you want to wear a yellow shirt and support the home team behind the goal.

Beer & Food
  • There are stalls inside the stadium selling all the usual snacks and beer found at Korean sports stadia.
  • The area around Yatap station includes a number of Korean restaurants as well as a McDonalds and Lotteria. There is a Kim's Club not far from the subway station and a Homever in the same building as the bus terminal.

The few home supporters gather at the South end. There is access to most parts of the ground. Only the West stand is covered. Tickets for games at Moran (their other ground) are 8,000 won. Seongnam is owned by Sun Myung Moon, who founded the Unification Church. They play the national anthem before every game and there are religious commercials broadcast on the big screen at halftime.

The only drink they sell at the stadium is coffee. If you are thirsty after the match, try the Nurnberg beer restaurant, opposite of the Kim's Club / Lotteria near the bus terminal / subway station exit 4. Open 4 pm till 2 am :bounce: :drunken:.

I don't think that is true, or at least it wasn't when I went earlier this year. I got hammered :drunken:

See, now we've got pictures of Moran in a thread about Tancheon. Anyway...

You can buy beer (Hite) at Moran, at least you could last Saturday.

Allegedly (Cyclops), Moran was the venue for the men's hockey final in the 1988 Olympics, which Great Britain won. The girlfriend described it as the "scuzziest stadium" she's ever been to.

Am flying up for the Seongnam - Jeju game but confused which stadium is which!

According to the Seongnam website its at 성남종합 (Seongnam CheongHap). Is this the Tancheon stadium?

That's almost certainly Moran Stadium, which is 성남 종합 운동장. Tancheon is usually 성남 탄천 종합운동장.

The first half of the 2009 season (roughly) is at Moran, second half at Tancheon. Don't ask me why. If it goes wrong, a taxi between the two takes about five minutes.

Has anyone been by Tancheon recently and seen how work's progressing on the roof? Must be finished by now, surely.

Last time I was there (first game of the season?) I didn't notice any work going on on the roof and I probably would have noticed if it was anything other than a guy going round with a bit of polyfiller. It was working last season wasn't it? Was it falling down or just leaking?

For me, the best feature of Tancheon is that, having been there twice, I'll never have to go there again. :-):-):-)
When I was there for the visit of Urawa (ACL), even though it was p*ssing with rain and there was overcrowding (not to dangerous levels, admittedly) the suit steadfastly refused to let people into the main stand even though there were vacant seats.
B*gger-all around the ground of interest either (if I'm wrong, pray do tell), so I headed for some mountain several stops away and went for a walk followed by a soak.

Any pics of Moran?
Cheers.

Apparently this is what Tancheon's going to look like when finished:

The bottom two of eujin's three pictures above are of Moran. I should have some somewhere so I'll have a look.

Everything that the MLS(American soccer league) endures: at least they don't have any fucking 10 lane tracks to deal with.

Oh shit, if they are building all that then they are nowhere near finished. I have more pictures of Moran. Do we really need more pictures of Moran?

More pictures of Moran.

Thanks Eujin... yes 성남종합 turned out to be Moran!

It was a weird experience - Moran stadium is almost a carbon copy of the one in Jeju City only with less supporters. I didn't think that was possible!

Seongnam fans prefer Moran Stadia cause the atmosphere itself is really similar to European one. Everybody in the stadium didnae go out after the final whistle till the players came in front of them and have bowing to them. I really love to see that scene.

Till early August they will use Moran as home ground.

Now Tancheon looked like..

(It took by me at 19th April)
