3rd Jan, Incheon Utd revealed their New Stadium Construction through Incheon Newspaper that will be started in this year. Follow that news, Kwon Seong-jin, the Marketing director of Incheon Utd says "The percentage of the possibility to build(of stadium) is 99%. We just have few problem at now. So construction will be started at this September."

That football stadium will be built on 20,000-25,000 capacity and the location is Sung-ui dong. Near Do-won subway station.

It's fecking good news fae Korean fitba. Also the Busan I'Park tried to get a stadium at Gang-seo district, before that they will put plastic chair on running track of Busan Asiad Stadium..

I understand they want the stadiums to look more full, etc etc... but what are they going to do with the Incheon World Cup stadium? Is it just going to sit there unused now?

When I saw England play in Jeju in the U17 World Cup I noticed they'd removed a tier from one of the stands! A shocking waste, but maybe Incheon will do the same. They could even donate some seats to Busan.

The Incheon WC stadium will see a bit of use during the 2014 Asian Games (though there are rumours Incheon city hall are looking at building an even bigger venue than that specifically for those games... dafties), but after that the words Prugio, Lotte Castle or E-Pyeonhan Sesang might well figure heavily in the stadium's future.

hahaha...nice.

However I think people would be pissed if one of the WC stadiums came down so soon.

Quite like that Busan idea. OK doesn't exactly look great but will be much better for spectators.

They need these at a few other grounds also.

Any idea how much money was burned on those WC Stadia and how much they got back over their short lifetimes?

Maybe they have no such great income as well.. Not like Sangam WC, they got CGV, Shopping mall, Pizza hut blah blah..

Once I heard that the Sangam WC is the only WC Stadia that makes profit..

Well the powers that be will say the short term was worth it b/c Japan had to share the WC. In my opinion and from what I've read, it had everything to do with the hate Korea has for Japan.

And yet, despite that, Anyang FC was moved to Seoul to help fund the Sangam White Elephant. One just hopes Mipo isn't next.
