Kit clash! Either that or the Uijeongbu goalkeeper ate one of the Yangju players.

They did have him switch into a blue kit for the second half. Coincidentally, Yangju's keeper was also wearing blue ...

Another week, another horsing for Uijeongbu who managed to lose 11-0 to Paju today. That currently makes them the worst team in Korea. However I was watching the 2nd worst this week.

I caught the train up to Chungju today to see Chungju FC v Goyang. The drum bashing Magpie Ultra was there (of course) but even with his encouragement, and Romario and Bebeto up front, they still lost 7-0.

A mixed bag of goals, the first one was from a brilliant deep cross, the second straight from a corner and the third when the ball was blasted straight though the keepers hands. That was enough for him to get subbed, but the new goalkeeper didn't do any better and Chungju deserved their 7-0 win.

Nice little sports park, with a small stand and within walking distance of the train station. They actually make you buy a ticket to get in (2000 won). Well worth the trip and hopefully the other four stadiums I need to tick off for the 48 are as good.

No games this week in K3 except for the Bu game: Buyeo vs Busan. This has been moved from the following week because Buyeo are holding a cow grazing festival on the field the week after. See you there!

Last week's Basic scores:

파주시민축구단 : FC의정부 11 : 0
충주시민축구단 : 고양시민 7 : 0
부여FC : 평창FC 2 : 2
서울유나이티드 : 시흥시민 0 : 2
양주시민축구단 : 부산FC 1 : 0

I think we can agree it's Goyang, Zebras and Uijeongbu battling it out for the bottom. Although Yangju aren't taking the shock of the Basic well.

Last week's Advance scores

Pocheon won again but they have lost this season. Gyeongju are top with a 100% record.

Exciting times at the bottom as the two shittest teams in the league (yes, even worse than the Zebs!) do battle next week....at the National Football Centre in Paju?! What?! Turns out that all of Goyang's four go-to Goyang grounds are pretending to be fully booked with a view to trying to get the team to permanently relocate because of the embarrassment they are causing the town hall's efforts to become Seoul's Number One West Side Suburban Getaway 2019 to be ridiculed. Rubbing my crystal balls, I see a move to the 'Buk and a name change to Nowon Wanderers for next year...

...Meanwhile, Goyang are clearly seeing this as their only chance of winning a game all season and they are doing it all in front of the prawn sandwich brigade at KFA HQ. Little do they know that Uijeongbu are also thinking that this is their only hope of any points this season.

Check out the poster for the event:

Talk about sprinkling glitter on a steaming pile of manure.

Also this! "Change the Past" - they'll have to start scoring to do that! Still at 45,000 KRW, it's less than half the price of a Korea Nike World Cup shirt.

Goyang won the clash of the giants 3-1, to move all the way up to 3rd bottom.

After watching Goyang and Uijeongbu in recent weeks, I completed the trinity of hopelessness by braving the relentless rain on Saturday to see Seoul United. They went 1-0 up away at Yeoju, only to lose 3-1. They were well beaten to be honest, and the goal they scored was against the run of play. Still at least they made a game of it and it must have been a big game, because they had the TV camera there.

It's one more stadium ticked off for me as I look to regain my 48 club membership. Only new clubs at Pyeongtaek and Busan, and the new stadium at Bucheon to go.

Do they have TV cameras at all the K3 games? Or are they doing a secret documentary on me and they are following me around the country, filming me picking my nose at different stadiums?

Me (and my cameraman) were at Pyeongtaek today to see them take down the legal eagles of Jungang. 1-0 and not only is there not many goals in the advanced league, but it was 5000 won to get in. Maybe they use the money to pay for competent defenders.

Chorus firmly routed to the bottom of the table, with one point.

Uijeongbu got done 13-0 at Yeoju! It's Martyrsville up there.
Goyang and the Zebs both went down 5-1 at home.
Yangju got Pajued 3-2 at home.

Goyang Yangju next week, I think. I'll try and make my once every one or two year meeting with Paquebot.

Feel free to come along for the once in a blue moon ROK meet up.

Have you asked this cameraman about the 48-club? Chances are he might know some members and if he doesn't he might know a journalist or two interested in a foreigner crazy enough not only to join the 48-club but also to try to rejoin the club after a few years absence. Koreans love lists, especially if they can tick them off; the eight scenic wonder of Danyang, the 7 peaks above 2000m with an "r" in the name, the 38 world congresses that have not yet been hosted at COEX....If you play the media strategy right, there could even be a cardboard cut-out in it.

The stuff Charlie got up to while he was here was amazing, but for me I couldn't think of anything worse!

As far as I can see it's mostly just you, me, Paquebot and Eujin bumbling around this forum these days. I'm sure I read somewhere that the end of days would come when all four of us met in Goyang. However as long as Eujin doesn't appear riding a pale horse I think we may be OK, so count me in if you guys are heading to the Ultra Magpie Dome.

It had to be me that was Death didn't it? Actually I was in Hel last week. We tried to go for a swim, but it was too cold.

I was also at a match that only lasted 77 minutes. That's surely a sign of the end of days.

Three forum members made the trek out to Goyang for the battle of the basement to witness a tight game of miskicks (from everyone), mistakes (from entire Goyang time) and menace (from KFA official at small children playing with a ball on the sidelines). Yangju the better team but Goyang has improved from the last time I saw them. 1-2 in the end. Paquebot as delirious as ever, I.e. not very but the points, like the cabbages, are in the bag. The Saint, neutral and indifferent, headed home wondering what happened to Goyangs third ultra. Rumours are his wife stopped him going to save his sanity - and she may have been right. Goyangs South Sudanese superstar scored with a nod from six yards from a corner but did little else. The fatter Brazilian and 17 struggled to put anything worthwhile together in the final third. The even fatter goalie was back in and looked like Karius after ten rounds of fried chicken and beer. Another frustrating day for the Goyang faithful. The next ROK meetup is at the return fixture when I will be braving cabbage country and hope that I don’t get lunched for saying I prefer white radish kimchi!
