All going wrong at Goyang. One shot on target. No chances created. Small goalie that lets in soft goals. Inept defense. Same two Brazilian subs who are useless. Same as last year. Same as the Martyrs....except with Brazilians. Siheung still have the foreign manager and brought on a foreign player too, who didn’t look great. Discontent from the three ultras who have added a Please Buy Our Club notice in English and another with a magpie that looks like a duck to their impressive banner collection. No K3 booklets on offer today and the next away game is at Yeoju but I have to go to a work thing so can’t go to a new ground. Double disappointment!

The game finished 0-2 following two soft goals. Siheung created more chances but couldn't finish. 65th minute or so, Goyang failed to clear and gifted them a sitter. 80-odd minutes in and a nothing shot that should have been saved went past Shorty McShortcake in the Goyang nets. Goyang, as for the last two years, have been unable to look as though they have any idea that to win a football game you have to score. It always feels like they are playing for 0-0....and then losing. It's worse than the Martyrs.

Plenty of goals in Uijeongbu this afternoon and Busan definitely looked good for their win. Really good timing between the midfield and forwards to regularly launch players behind the last defender and it was only through some poor finishing that the score wasn't higher for Busan. Also looked like almost every break featured two players rushing forward while Uijeongbu often had to rely on one player holding up play while waiting for teammates to get forward.

Busan's #19 - 피델 - scored a brace and looked the most influential player at getting things going from midfield. High work rate from the Brazilian and during one run he managed to thread his way through something like five Uijeongbu defenders. I expected to see 로웨이 (Liu Wei?) play after reading news that he signed for Uijeongbu from Chinese Superleague side Liaoning Whowin F.C. but he wasn't listed on the team sheet for today. We did get to see South Sudanese player 스티븐 though and the lanky 196cm defender did alright given the scoreline. Can't remember him getting beat too often at any rate.

Everyone was given a free gift at halftime. I haven't torn open the wrapping yet but it smells like it's soap. Is the team trying to suggest something to their fans?

600+ down at Chungju....that won't last! I'd say 167 for Goyang is about right. Though there was a sizeable number of kids playing near the field and a few blokes running around the track, they all count though!

Prediction: It's going to be a battle for the bottom between us and the Zebs!

That's next to the ice hockey arena?
I updated my maps a couple of weeks ago and it still lists them as playing that the big stadium.

Yes...back to the ice rink. It's easier to get to so I'm happy.

Yes!

(Edit)....it finished 3-0 in the end to Yeoju. Three good goals. I feel certain that if I went to Brazil and got the first two people I saw at the airport, they would be better than the ones at Goyang.

April 7th results

Buyeo 4 Chungju 0
Zebs 0 Paju 5
Yangju 1 Uijeongbu 1 (All square in the Cabbage Country derby)
Yeoju 3 Goyang 0
Pyeongchang 1 Busan 1

Zebs and Goyang continue their battle for the bottom....but they play each other next week!....I can't go again due to work....or the week after when we are away at Chungju! This is ridiculous! I need a new job.

Made it to the Yangju - Uijeongbu match and it was a somewhat scrappy affair not helped by the strong wind. In addition to their goal, Yangju had a shot hit the post and four more chances cleared off the line. Uijeongbu didn't get forward very often but they did look better defensively than they did two weeks ago. Probably the result of not trying to play a high offside trap like they did against Busan.

Also, Uijeongbu's keeper is larger than I expected:

See, this was the problem with watching K3 in Korea. It always made me feel like I ought to be playing, not watching.

I’m deep in Cabbage Country just now. Just finished watched Buyeo beat Uijeonbu 8-2. The big lad pictured above came on after 35 minutes when Euijeonbu had just lost their fifth goal.

That’s three wins out of three for Buyeo, and they do look a bit advanced for the Basic League.

In terms of mobility and getting down for shots, how did he compare with the original Michelin Man, Lee Woon-jae?

Round 1: Uijeongbu 2:4 Busan
Round 2: Yangju 1:1 Uijeongbu
Round 3: Uijeongbu 2:8 Buyeo

Makes Yangju's draw look even worse compared to the results that Busan and Buyeo grabbed while playing away. On the other hand, Yangju conceded the fewest against Uijeongbu, so at least they have that statistic to be proud of.

Checking out the other scores for the round, it looks like Pocheon lost 2:1 away to Gimpo.

Can't really fault either of the keepers for the eight goals. There isn't a lot you can do when the opposition thread or dribble the ball through the defence line almost at will. One thing that the big lad has that the first keeper didn't is a voice like a foghorn, maybe that's why they brought him on. Or maybe they wanted someone loud and big so that people in the crowd 200m away could notice him from way across the running track.

That keeper is huge!
