98th National Sports Festival (2017)

Postby Holyjoe » Mon Oct 23, 2017 6:34 am

Fuck.. nearly forgot about the 2016 edition and now the 2017 one has nearly passed me by. Things all kicked off down in Chungju on the 20th, semis to be played on October 24th with the final on October 26th.

As expected the Zebras got a pasting but the other two K3 League representatives are doing really rather well. We're guaranteed K3 participation in the tournament final which I think is a first.

20/10: Mokpo City 5-0 Seoul United
20/10: Busan TC 1-2 Gyeongju KHNP
20/10: Pocheon 1-0 Cheonan City
22/10: Daejeon Korail 1-1 Mokpo City (Korail won 4-3 on pens)
22/10: Cheongju FC 0-2 Changwon
22/10: Jeonju FC 2-1 Gyeongju KHNP
22/10: Gangneung 1-1 Pocheon (Pocheon won 5-3 on pens)

24/10: Changwon City v Daejeon Korail
24/10: Jeonju FC v Pocheon

This'll be the second time a K3 side has reached the final then after Cheongju Jikji in 2013. Certainly going back for the past twelve seasons (as that's all the detailed records I have) then there has only been one other non-National League finalist since the launch of the K2/National League (2003) and K3 (2007) and that was the National Police side which were at that point a non league team.

I didn't know about E-Land Puma in 1994 and 1996. Are they related to the current E-Land?
