2017 R-League

Postby Gyongmaman » Sat Apr 22, 2017 2:27 pm

The K-League Reserve League spluttered into life earlier this month with most teams having played a couple of games already. nobody cares about the results but I did notice that Seongnam have won both their games so far and even E-Land have actually won a game too, although they found themselves just edged out in a seven-goal thriller on the Bucheon practice pitch last week.

For those with weekday afternoons to kill, it can provide a good little fix although the venues can be hit or miss. Having said that, this coming Sunday offers a possibly unique opportunity to watch an R-League match at the weekend as Ulsan host Busan at 11:30am! There is a catch though in that the game is being played at "Gang-dong Gu-Jang", which is a pair of pitches in Gang-dong-gu, out in the countryside by the sea to the north-east of Ulsan and nowhere near the centre. Or anything, for that matter. Looks a nice location on Daum maps though....

12 teams are taking part this year and I think that instead of a "North" & "South" split, this time they've just been put into one league. FC Seoul, Jeju United, Suwon Bluewings, Incheon United, Gangwon FC, Busan and Daegu from the Classic along with Busan, Bucheon, Ansan, Seongnam and Seoul Eland from the Challenge

Here are some upcoming games (All results and fixtures are at http://kleague.com/ko/content/rleague):

Sunday April 23
11:30: Ulsan vs Busan (Gangdong Gu-jang)

Tuesday April 25
14:00: Bucheon FC vs Incheon United (Bucheon Stadium Practice Pitch)
14:00: Seoul Eland vs Seongnam (Cheongpyeong Resort)
15:00: Jeju United vs Ansan (Jeju United Clubhouse)
15:00: Daegu vs Gangwon (Cheongju Stadium)

Thursday April 27
15:00: FC Seoul vs Suwon Bluewings (Guri Champions Park)

Tuesday May 9
14:00: Gangwon vs Seoul Eland (Wonju Civil Stadium)
15:00 Busan vs Incheon (TBC - they played their first home game at the Asiad Practice pitch but that means nothing in this league)

Thursday May 11
14:00: Bucheon vs Daegu (TBC)
15:00: Seongnam vs Ulsan (TBC - Moran is supposedly unavailable until June - they played their first "home" game this year in Cheonan)
15:00: Ansan vs FC Seoul (Ansan Wa Practice Pitch)
16:00: Jeju United vs Suwon Bluewings (Jeju United Clubhouse)
