So the guy just lined up the free-kick and took a direct shot at goal? How many players did Uijeongbu have back to defend the free kick? How many guys in the wall (if you remember)? Did someone go out to mark the guy on the wing?

Any video highlights? Pics?

I don't remember exactly how many players Uijeongbu had back but it seemed like an 'average' number for the situation. I'm guessing something like five or six guys in the wall, a few more players deep in the half, and a couple toward the halfway line ready for a counter-attack. I don't think the guy on the wing ever had anyone marking him closely, but he never got the ball from free kicks anyway.

I just had my cellphone so no video and the only pictures I took of the match were the two keepers.

some counter-attack with eight defenders back

This all sounds a bit mysterious, but perhaps not beyond the realms of plausibility. Did the guy out on the wing ever do anything useful or was he like Calvin at recess?

Some real Seoul Martyrs tactics there.

I don't think the new backwards kick-off rule was in then but we could have perfected it....

Round 12
[Match Number] Result (Attendance)

[49] Uijeongbu 3:1 Pyeongtaek (111)
[50] Seoul United 1:3 Seoul Jungnang (265)
[51] Goyang 1:2 Pyeongchang (864)
[52] Busan 0:2 Buyeo (625)

Uijeongbu win their fourth match in a row, the champion of the Seoul derby isn't United (surprise!), Goyang are probably lying about their match attendance, and the Bu-Bu match sees what's likely another inflated attendance figure. Ignore the Uijeongbu result and it's about par for the course in the K3 Basic, then.

Interesting trivia about Goyang Citizen that I noticed while perusing my copy of the 2017 K3 Advanced/Basic Guidebook:

- 43 players are listed on the team roster
- 10 players have a foreign team listed as their previous club (Thailand x 5, Indonesia x 1, Japan x 2, Serbia x 1, Spain x 1)
- 4 players have 'Seoul FC Martyrs' listed as their previous club
- 2 players have experience at another Goyang club (Goyang Zaicro x 1, Goyang HI FC x 1)
- 1 player used to play for Seoul United

Round 13
[Match #] Result (Attendance)

[53] Pyeongtaek 4:0 Seoul United (423)
[54] Seoul Jungnang 5:0 Siheung (278)
[55] Buyeo 0:2 Uijeongbu (79)
[56] Goyang 1:2 Busan (445)

Seoul United refuse to allow Yangju to concede more goals than them this season, Seoul Jungnang continue their undefeated streak against second-place Siheung, Uijeongbu remain on fire and get their sixth win in a row while playing third-place Buyeo, and nearly 500 turned out in Goyang to see their team fall just short of picking up a point.

I think Goyang are lying about everything! Rev. Cho needs to answer some serious questions....and I don't mean about religion....

Round 14
[Match #] Result (Attendance)

[57] Pyeongchang 1:1 Pyeongtaek (79)
[58] Buyeo 2:2 Seoul Jungnang (39)
[59] Siheung 1:0 Goyang (370)
[60] Busan 2:1 Uijeongbu (147)

Last week Buyeo had an attendance of 79, this week it's 39. Is the "new car smell" finally starting to wear off? Odd to see, since they're still in the hunt for promotion to the K3 Advanced. The weekend also saw Uijeongbu's string of wins finally end against Busan, two Pyeongs and two goals, and Siheung doing just enough to get full points against Goyang.

Round 15
[Match #] Result (Attendance)

[61] Pyeongtaek 1:2 Siheung (291)
[62] Seoul Jungnang 4:1 Goyang (145)
[63] Buyeo 2:1 Pyeongchang (45)
[64] Busan 9:4 Seoul United (87)

Nothing extraordinary from three of the weekend's fixtures -- Siheung edge past Pyeongtaek, Seoul Jungnang outclassed Goyang at home, Buyeo with another poor attendance figure despite picking up another win. Then we have the fourth match. The 'barbecue on the beach' as it may one day be known. Seoul United came, 87 saw, and Busan conquered. The score was 3:1 at halftime and 5:3 at the hour-mark, with Busan scoring four more in the final 15 minutes. Was it fatigue that caused the Zebras' defeat? Some dodgy seafood for lunch? A curse placed by MartyrsForever?

Notice from the match stats of the Busan-Zebras game that the referee was a chap called Lee Chun-soo. Could be a freaky coincidence, but ROKfootball's favourite rat-faced shit weasel was in Busan yesterday throwing out pitches for Lotte Giants so why would he not try his hand at refereeing a 5th division football match earlier in the day?

Round 16
[Match #] Result (Attendance)

[65] Seoul Jungnang 1:1 Pyeongtaek (121)
[66] Buyeo 0:1 Siheung (63)
[67] Uijeongbu 2:1 Pyeongchang (157)
[68] Seoul United 0:2 Goyang (89)

One final round to go after last weekend's results. Here's a preview of the last round, played on 15 October:

[69] Pyeongtaek (4) vs Goyang (8) -- Pyeongtaek have a three point lead over the teams in 5th and 6th so will likely qualify for the K3 Basic promotion play-offs. They're also three points behind Buyeo in 3rd, but Buyeo have already played all 16 fixtures. A win would see Pyeongtaek move into 3rd on goal difference (or goals scored).

[70] Pyeongchang (7) vs Jungnang (1) -- Jungnang have a 3 point lead at the top of the standings. I can't really see them dropping points here, so they'll likely auto-promote to the K3 Advanced.

[71] Siheung (2) vs Busan (6) -- Siheung can only finish 1st if Jungnang lose and the goal swing between their match and this one accounts for a 22 goal deficit. Siheung also have a 9 point lead over 3rd, so it seems safe to say they're going to finish the season in 2nd. Meanwhile, Busan have a slim chance of reaching the play-offs if they win, Uijeongbu don't win, and Pyeongtaek loses by enough for Busan to make up an 8 goal deficit. Unlikely.

[72] Uijeongbu (5) vs Seoul United (9) -- Uijeongbu are currently in the last play-off spot and are hosting Seoul United. They could move up to 4th if Pyeongtaek lose and they make up a 3 goal deficit. They could also drop out of the play-off spots if they don't win but Busan does. Uijeongbu is playing Seoul United though - who only have 2 points this season - so Uijeongbu have to be liking their chances.

Play-Off Special:

PO 1R-1: 2 vs 5 -- currently Siheung (2) and Uijeongbu (5). Uijeongbu have been doing well recently but Siheung would likely win.
PO 1R-2: 3 vs 4 -- currently Buyeo (3) and Pyeongtaek (4). Both teams have similar records, both are new, and both are sides I've never seen. I have no idea who would win that fixture.

PO 2R Winner PO 1R-1 vs Winner PO 1R-2. Siheung, most likely.
