The article mentions their aim of joining the K3, but then it also mentions "프로축구단" and "프로축구 3부 리그".. they wouldn't be professional if they were in the K3, would they? And surely the K3 is the 4부 리그 anyway. But K3 it most probably is, if they're actually serious about it. Holding their press conference in a galbi restaurant isn't a good sign...

LED manufacturing company G-Smatt are meant to be the company behind the team which will be known as Pyeongtaek G-Smatt for short but which has a Sunday name of Pyeongtaek Glass Interactive Smart Display System Football Club. We've not had such an evocatively named football club in the K3 since Eunpyeong Chung-gu Sungshim Hospital FC so I'm all for them joining.
Pyeongtaek Citizen FC (평택시민축구단), a.k.a. Pyeongtaek G-Smatt FC (평택지스마트축구단), has been established with the city's backing, and it looks like they will begin play in the 2018 K3 League Basic, although there are some hints they may begin as early as 2017.
The council meeting back in July became rather heated, however, so who knows how long until the city tells them to bugger off.
