Actually I suspect part of the problem might be that we are having too many kids and the important business of updating ROKfootball is being neglected.

I can't wait for my three to all grow up and move out so I can get back to the important business of discussing what the Buyeo FC reserve left back had for breakfast on the day of his team's away match to Chuncheon...

Busan got a bit of a pasting recently by the Vietnamese U22 side as they went down 6-1 in a friendly match at the Mokpo Football Centre earlier this month. Must have been a pretty successful tour for the Vietnamese as they also beat National League side Mokpo City 4-1.

Long gone are the days when K3 sides the likes of Icheon and Hwaseong were beating full Asian national sides in friendly matches...

But can the Vietnamese U22 do it on a cold, wet Wednesday night in Pocheon?

Playing against Busan and Mokpo doesn't mean anything. Let's see them face the duck shaggers from up north.

Round 11
[Match #] Result (Attendance)

[45] Pyeongtaek 4:3 Busan (452)
[46] Pyeongchang 0:6 Siheung (131)
[47] Buyeo 4:1 Seoul United (48)
[48] Uijeongbu 7:1 Goyang (187)

Siheung closes to within a point of Seoul Jungnang at the top of the standings, Uijeongbu reach 6th in the standings following their fourth win of the season, Pyeongtaek were 12 shy of having the highest attendance in the entire K3 this weekend (really?), and you could hear the crickets chirp their satisfaction in Buyeo.
======================================

I attended the Uijeongbu-Goyang match and it was mostly one-way traffic in the first half. Uijeongbu was up 2:0 in the opening ten minutes and kept going from there, finishing the half at 6:1. Goyang looked like they preferred a 4-5-1 formation and sat deep waiting for Uijeongbu to attack. Goyang wasn't even that adventurous on free kicks -- they received one not too far outside the box and their set-up was to have one player over the ball and a second player way out on the wing; everyone else stayed back in the Goyang half. No surprise that nothing came of it.

Goyang's solitary goal came from a long-range strike that the Uijeongbu keeper blocked with his chest; the rebound shot too far away for him to reach before it was bundled in by the same player who took the initial shot. Goyang started putting bodies forward in the second half and looked like they might score on a couple of occasions. Wellington (#38) was by far their best player and was involved in anything good the team did. Uijeongbu brought on Thai midfielder Thamanoon Salee for the final 12 minutes but he only got a few touches before the match ended.

Also, I was surprised to see that the keepers in the Uijeongbu-Goyang match were allowed to wear such similar colors. According to the KFA website, Uijeongbu's keeper wore 'lime' (라임) while Goyang's keeper wore 'green' (녹색). :smt104

What was the score when that happened? Are you saying there were literally eight Goyang defenders in their own half when they had a free kick near the box? If true, that's quite scandalous and probably should be investigated at an official level.

My Sundays have been locked up for a while now and will be for a few months to come. This mean I have only one day in the week to do things I like. I've been to the frustration that is FC Seoul less than 5 times this season. :(
There are two routes to success in football. One is being good. The other is being lucky. You need both to win a championship. But you need only one to win a match.

Think it was around the time Uijeongbu were up 3:0 or 4:0. And yes, there really were eight Goyang defenders in their own half when they had a free kick near the box. The real oddity was the guy out on the opposite wing. I can maybe forgive the defensive play but if you're only going to have one other player up top with the guy over the ball at least put him somewhere dangerous -- like in the wall, ready to pounce on any mistakes.

I also noticed that each time Uijeongbu scored Goyang would restart play with only one player in the center circle, who booted the ball to the deepest-sitting defender. Some real Seoul Martyrs tactics there.
