And that's Ulsan Mipo Dockyard as champions for the seventh time in their 19-year run, winning the National League playoff final 2-1 on aggregate. Kim Min-gyu, on loan from Big Ulsan, with the goal for Mipo.

Our old friend Kim Hyun-hee, who wrote the "top 10 grounds in South Korea" article back in 2010 (the original doesn't seem to be online anymore), has penned a fantastic feature piece about the history of Ulsan Mipo Dockyard FC.

The article covers how Mipo launched many K-League player careers (including Kim Dae-eui of Suwon Bluewings), their run to the Korean FA Cup final in 2005, various Korean football records that they broke, and how Gangwon FC's launch was heavily flavoured by Mipo.

It also looks at why Mipo refused promotion in 2007, and how the club was nearly whisked away to another city on several occasions.

Apparently Mipo manager Kim Chang-gyeom will not be offered a job at Ansan, and less than 14 players are likely to be given a contract there. :smt091

Anywho, an interesting read. Even worth using Google Translate.

Official confirmation of what we discussed in the K-League Challenge thread, Yongin City will shut their doors on December 31st and next season the National League will be comprised of just eight teams. Hardly seems worth bothering with.

Come on KFA! It's staring you in the face! The K3 Advanced combines with the N-League to create a super lower division with a standard worth watching! Someone from the KFA has to be reading this forum! Come on!

Pity. It would make more sense to move the team down to K3 and simply pay stipends to players, rather than axing it completely.

I'm curious if Goyang Zaicro will be in the National League (or K3?) next season, or if they'll just fold.
