Not sure what this will mean for Mipo. Will Hyundai want two league teams in Ulsan?

Ah, yes. Punt them to the K3 for now, and slip a bung to the KFA to quash pro/rel with the K-League?

They seem to be the anomaly. Bigger Nleague teams could possibly step up to challenge smaller fit fine with k3 but Mipo an oddball maybe?

Was the size of the leagues confirmed? 2 leagues of 16?

The KFA will probably change their mind by 2018....

I'm not sure a two-tier K3 works. I would prefer a North/South or Gtr Seoul /Elsewhere split with some kind of play-offs. Promotion from K3 works though because then Pocheon can fuck off....Maybe by limiting the teams from in and around Seoul, the overall quality can go up.....or not?......

K2 would then be the middle ground for the old National League and lower K-Challenge lot.

K-League or K1 will be the money clubs with heavy political backing from the chaebolers.

I can see it 'working'. You will get something similar to other places where teams with less money will be yo-yoing between K1 and K2 in an endless loop. So when I say working I don't really mean working - if you see what I mean.

Would be funny if the AFC were to implement "financial fair play" later. The jaebeol clubs would be fecked.

They've been looking at some kind of FFP system for at least the last two years but more withe idea of sustainability and responsible management than restricting sugar daddy corporations.

Heh, define "sustainability."

If you thought K-League Classic and K-League Challenge were daft names, once the K3 splits into two divisions in 2017 the proposed name choices for the two tiers are K3 Advance League and K3 Basic League. They've still got a whole year to rethink that though and I bloody well hope they do.

Genius, K3 never disappoints. Advance and Basic are miles better than Classic and Challenge.

K3 teams really need to play about basic football. Really.

Agreed. Those are tremendous names. Just change Basic to Beginner and assign teams to each league according to their aggregated TOEIC scores (the theory one only, not the practical one). Once the schedule comes out, change some teams around after complaints that Pocheon is Yangju's senior and he isn't comfortable being in the same league as him. Then after a couple of games have been played (assuming they show up), move them all around according to their actual level.

At the end of the season, everyone gets a certificate and moves up to the next division regardless of how many points they scored.

Means..

2016 1~11th clubs=Go to Advance League.
(Why not advanced?!)
2016 12~15th clubs=Go to promotion playoff (Only 1 club goes to A league)
2016 16~20th clubs=Basic

So 12 clubs for A, 8 clubs for B.

They've got new teams in Siheung, Andong and Buyeo (I think.. or Yangpyeong?) which makes the 20 with Martyrs dropping out.

That playoff idea is fucking stupid though. Are they doing a straight league season this year or are they splitting into groups and then using the combined rankings? Would imagine someone who misses out on the Advantage League on goal difference because the team in the other league pumped Goyang Martyrs United twice would be extremely pissed off...
