Re: 2018 World Cup qualification

If Iceland do qualify then it'll mean a return to Aberdeen representation (Kari Arnason) in a World Cup finals for the first time since 2002. There was at least one Aberdeen player at each tournament since 1978 but there have been none in 2006, 2010 and 2014... and those tournaments have been rather...

Re: The "Does he like kimchi?" thread

Erik Paartalu has entered the "who endured the worst stint at a K-League club" competition with quite a tale of his own ... In fact, Paartalu describes his time in South Korea as “eight months of hell”, where “I got f****d over by the best club in Asia”. After snaring a promising move to J...

Re: 2017 K-League Classic

Yep hadn't fully looked into the final fixtures but it's the forthcoming Daegu-Incheon game that rules automatic relegation out before the end of the split. There's a few combinations of results that at worst would see them 15 points adrift of eleventh place with fifteen to play for...

Re: 2017 K-League Classic

In the latest edition of McGinnwatch, our intrepid hero has seen his side play 180 minutes of football since the last update, losing 4-1at home to FC Seoul and drawing 1-1 at home to Gwangju, and 'see his side play' is exactly what he has done as he was an unused substitute for both matches. Away to...

Re: Catchphrases 2017

No idea what this catchphrase is all about.. presumably if you support Jeju United then Min Hyorin will come round to your house with her pet iguana for some real love? https://img3.daumcdn.net/thumb/R658x0.q70/?fname=https://t1.daumcdn.net/news/201709/27/SpoChosun/20170927104816708mtcn.jpg https://...

Re: After the K-League...

Not strictly after the K-League, more after the Korean national team, but Uli Stielike got himself a new gig as boss of relegation-threatened Tianjin Teda earlier this month. Hasn't taken long for them to end up mired in controversy... Chinese FA investigates Tianjin Teda win 'following tip-offs and...

Re: The "Does he like kimchi?" thread

Ali Abbas saw things "no footballer should see" during his recent spell at Pohang Steelers, not sure if he's referring to kimchi on pizza or chocolate-covered French fries but he's certainly unhappy about something though it's not necessarily food related... At a time the 31-year-old deser...

Re: Scottish football 2017/18

Must be tough for Celtic to try and compete with teams that have much, much more money than they do. Utterly bizarre from Brenda here . Rodgers insists the gap between the best and the rest in the Champions League will widen unless there is a crackdown. ... “Football is very much financial in every ...

Re: Football club files appeal to amend promotion playoff result in 2016

If Gangwon were a blue and white football club from Scotland then they'd have nothing to worry about as the national footballing governing body would see no merit in retrospectively amending match results when it's been proven players were improperly registered... K League appeals court order to rev...

Re: 2017 K3 League Basic (D5) season

Notice from the match stats of the Busan-Zebras game that the referee was a chap called Lee Chun-soo. Could be a freaky coincidence, but ROKfootball's favourite rat-faced shit weasel was in Busan yesterday throwing out pitches for Lotte Giants so why would he not try his hand at refereeing a 5th div...

Re: 2017 K-League Classic

Of course I was always going to do those digging through stats... McGinn has not completed a full 90 minutes for Gwangju yet, the longest he's played before getting taken off is 61 minutes. Three league starts, three league sub appearances and one FA Cup sub appearance. Nine more games left in the s...

Re: 2017 K-League Classic

Niall McGinn hooked after 45 minutes for Gwangju today.. they were 1-0 down at the time, his replacement scored twice including what could have been a point-saving equaliser in the third minute of second half stoppage time before Sangju then went and scored a winner in the fourth additional minute. ...

Re: After the K-League...

Cureton got a mention on some of the BBC 5 Live sports bulletins the other day as he scored for Farnborough recently and that has now meant that he has played for and scored in each of the top eight divisions of English football. They weren't 100% sure if he's the first person ever to have done that...

Scottish football 2017/18

Whilst most major European football leagues are hitting the headlines for ridiculously large transfer fees, Scottish football makes headlines for entirely different reasons... Aberdeen star Gary MacKay-Steven treated for hypothermia after being pulled from Glasgow river during night out 28 Aug 2017 ...
