Re: World Cup 2018

Group C is turning into a bit of lovefest. After the captains of Australia, Denmark and France lobbied to get Peruvian captain Paolo Guerrero reinstated when FIFA tried to ban him for taking cocaine, now the Danish National Choir has rewritten the words of the Danish national anthem to be about Peru...

Re: World Cup 2018

I got Colombia in the office sweepstake. Not the best result, but at least now I have some interest in the outcome of Group H. I want to tip Argentina to win it, possibly because I want to give them the kiss of death, but also because FIFA must be tired of UEFA teams winning all the time and with Me...

Re: 2018 K3 League

Do they have TV cameras at all the K3 games? Or are they doing a secret documentary on me and they are following me around the country, filming me picking my nose at different stadiums? Have you asked this cameraman about the 48-club? Chances are he might know some members and if he doesn't he migh...

Re: World Cup 2018

I'm busy creating my own private reality here, but riddle me this. In 1982 Austria qualified from their group ahead of Algeria on goal difference. They had a goal difference of +2, Algeria had only +0. This came about because Germany beat Austria in the final group match 1-0 and everyone was outrage...

Re: Europe general 2017/18

Juventus win their seventh title in a row. Bayern win their sixth. PSG are back to winning, their fifth in six years. Barcelona very honourably decided not to go unbeaten through their season, resting Messi and losing 5-4 to Levante after the title was already won. I think we have doubles in all fou...

Re: How the Bundesliga puts the Premier League to shame

Son Heung-min's old youth club Hamburg were relegated from the Bundesliga for the first time ever, the only surviving team that had never played outside the German top tier. A number of fans were not happy. https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/7FBD/production/_101310723_hamburg_reuter...

Re: 2018 AFC Champions League

Jeonbuk rather embarrassed themselves losing 3-2 in Thailand, but at least they got two away goals. Former Ulsan and Sangju player Yoo Jun-soo set up Buriram's first.

The all-Korea first leg finished 1-0 to Ulsan. The return leg is Tuesday in Suwon.

Re: Favourite World Cup moments of all time

Now we need to get Martyrs_Forever to vote. Surely the Reverend Choi has lifted the World Cup at some point in his illustrious career?

Re: Favourite World Cup moments of all time

I was hoping i might get at least 5 votes. Paquebot, you can vote for "something else" if you're going with 1994.

Re: 2018 K League 1

The table has a far more expected look about it now after 12 matches each. Jeonbuk have already opened up a 10 point lead at the top. Gyeongnam are still hanging on but Pohang have vanished without a trace. Sangju are still in the top half though and Seoul are only just beginning their climb out of ...

Re: Favourite World Cup moments of all time

I went for Cameroon in 1990. Roger Milla coming out of retirement at age 38, scoring 4 goals in the tournament, winning the penalty and setting up the second goal against England and that dance at the corner flag were all just magical. It was great when they beat Argentina in the opening match, but ...

Favourite World Cup moments of all time

Still counting down the days to the World Cup and since the last post was a bit negative I thought we should have a poll about the best World Cup moments of all time.

Re: World Cup 2018

Neuer says he will be ready for the World Cup. If they don't pick him they can always fall back on Barcelona's starting keeper. There was a worry about Jerome Boateng after he went off the other night against Real Madrid but now they're saying he should be OK. And Zlatan, apparently he has "dec...

Re: World Cup 2018

Yes, it's fair to say Germany are the most consistent threat, although it's tough to put my finger on why. They have the largest population in Western Europe, so they have the most people to pick from, but it's not like a list of the world's greatest players is dominated by Germans. Probably their m...

Re: World Cup 2018

I wonder what happens to the office sweepstake if any of the teams pull out. I can't remember that ever being a worry prior to the tournament before (although I remember thinking England should pull out in 1998). Putin's not going to be happy if Russia slip out meekly like they did in the hockey at ...
