Re: 2017 Korean FA Cup Rounds 3 & 4

If you make the cup final a two-legged affair you get what you deserve.

Re: 2018 World Cup qualification

South Korea drawn into Group F with Germany, Mexico and Sweden. Argh, I was hoping they'd go into Group G with England. Toward the end of the draw, with only three balls remaining, there was a one-in-three chance. Oh well. If you write the book in German (or Swedish) I will personally buy a copy. :...

Re: 2017 AFC Champions League

In the AFC Champions League that Korea forgot, Urawa Red Diamonds, the Manchester United of Japan, won 2-1 on aggregate in the final over Al Hilal to book their place in the World Club Cup.

Re: 2017 K-League Classic

Two in a row ABBA-style penaties it was :smt101 and although Busan got an early goal and the 1-0 away win in 90 minutes, Sangju stayed up with a 5-4 win in the shootout. Busan still have the two-legged cup final starting Wedesday to look forward to, but losing this way is going to take a lot out of ...

Re: Europe general 2017/18

If Celtic are going to go around losing 7-1 to the likes of PSG in the Champions League, do we need to consider the possibility that the gap between the very top teams in Europe and most national champions (Anderlecht included) is now as large as the gap between most SPL teams and the juniors?

Re: 2017 K-League Classic

From the highlights it looks like Busan dominated the chances, hit the woodwork a couple of times, but that really is a terrible result for them. Is there any chance that somebody somewhere knows the tie-break rules in case of Busan winning the second-leg 1-0 or 2-1 etc? Do we have away goals rule, ...

Re: 2017 K-League Classic

Thanks for that - pity I now live in what is perhaps the world's worst timezone for watching Korean football! Since when did you move to Toronto? If you'd been at the Cloak and Dagger on College Street last week when Denmark qualified for the World Cup I would've bought you a drink. Hah! Three mont...

Re: 2017 K-League Classic

The Kleague are streaming both legs of the play-off in HD globally. No need to squint at a grainy stream. The last two playoffs have gone the way of the lower league team. I can't see this one changing that trend. Busan have the current form. Sangju would've been directly relegated except for a han...

Re: How the Bundesliga puts the Premier League to shame

Somebody somewhere had the bright idea that since the German Southwest regional fourth tier has an odd number of teams, it would be a good chance to base the Chinese U20 team in Germany this year and have them play the odd team out each week. All this was smoothed over with plenty of money for all i...

Re: 2018 World Cup qualification

Cheek. Looks like I'll be too late for the 2018 World Cup - the first draft will be complete this month, but then there's editing and other bollocks. Either I'll aim for the 2018 afterglow or maybe 2022. Is the main theme of the book still the 2003 Busan I'cons season, or has the scope widen...

Re: 2018 World Cup qualification

Aww, you made Buffon cry. :( Buffon's had a great career. One of the best goalkeepers of all time and a true champion. I still remember watching his debut for Parma as a 17-year old against Milan on Channel 4's Football Italia. These World Cup play-offs are gripping stuff. Including the two interco...
