Re: 2018 World Cup qualification

It's actually quite tight now in Korea's group after they lost 1-0 to China and Syria beat Uzbekistan 1-0. Korea have a pretty big match coming up against Syria at Sangam on Mar 28th (Tuesday) which they can't really afford to lose. China breathe some life into their chances but they still have thre...

The Bbc on the Syrian national team who play Uzbekistan at home in Malaysia tomorrow. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/resources/idt-sh/syria_football_on_the_frontline Are China out yet? They can't be far away. My Chinese football fan friend moved back to China last year. I might have to send him a greetin...

Do they have replica shirts for Wellytong yet? I know where I could shift a few of those.

Re: Korean Football on Wikipedia

I'd love to see Rangers move to Coatbridge, but I think Lanark is a bit more likely. (Coatbridge is predominantly catholic, Lanark was famously the town that tried to get Subway to change the colour of their store from green to blue). I may have mentioned this before but I used to know a woman from...

Re: 2017 K-League Classic

What a surprise. Ulsan's 4-6-0 formation fails to produce a goal for the third game in a row. Early season optimism has faded already. Its going to be another 'just good enough' season for Ulsan I'm afraid. Why does anyone play 4-6-0? It's Manchester United that started it after they copied Roma wh...

Re: Korean Football on Wikipedia

I'll take a stab at this one. Continuity is important, but it's also important why you support a team. If your only reason is that they are the local team and they move to the other end of the country then that goes away. If you live on the other side of the world though, that might be less importan...

Yes, that would be a silly thing to suggest, especially on a football forum where we've all been discussing about teams we don't support for years. :smt118

Re: Korean Football on Wikipedia

I see no reason to believe that if Seoul GS moved into the Olympic Stadium in 2015 they would be any better off than Eland are. The main reason I see is that getting a club up and running is a lot easier if you already have a squad and staff set up and ready to go, both from the business side and t...

Re: Korean Football on Wikipedia

Eland have captured the top lazy to even go to games fanbase. A less lucrative niche. I'd be interested to know how many go to Eland games that aren't employed by the group. Single figures probably. FC Seoul fanbase seems to be made up of quite a large number of hangers on and casual fans who will ...

I thought it was E-Land that were trying to capture the lazy fan base in Seoul.

Re: Korean Football on Wikipedia

For some reason, reading this post reminded me of 독도는 우리 땅! And sure enough, on the wikipedia talk page in reply to kingkenny there is written "Do you know Comfort women?" Maybe they should just ban history books entirely in Korea for a generation and see how that works out for them...

Got a hat-trick as Spurs beat Millwall 6-0 to sail into the FA Cup semi-finals. That's six goals he's scored in this year's cup where he joins Adam Morgan of Curzon Ashton as the tournament top scorer. Also, you are the ref weighs in about the DVDs: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/03/12/mar...

My entire model of Korea and Koreans and the world would need to be revised if you turn out to be wrong.

Re: Citizen clubs making profits

I'm living in an uncomfortable state of ignorance about what is really going on in Korea at the moment, but is one of the reasons why Lee Jae-yong and Samsung are in trouble because they're accused of donating money towards elite sport and sportspeople in return for whatever it is that corporations ...

Korea made the final in 2017 but lost 1-0 to Switzerland. On their way to the final they beat both Scotland and New Zealand 2-0.
