Re: Scottish football 2016/17

Weren't St Mirren supposed to be marching proudly towards Tier 3? I checked today and they're not even bottom. What's going on? I'm surprised no one has mentioned anything.

Re: English FA Cup

Made my first ever trip to Wembley yesterday for Arsenal v Man City. Bloody impressive stadium but almost as far from the action as you are at Anyang if you get a cheap seat. It's a big improvement over how old Wembley was, but yes, Korean football is not so bad all things considered. I went to a T...

Re: 2017 Korean FA Cup Rounds 3 & 4

Has any city besides Seoul ever had more teams than that playing in the competition in the same season? Nexen Tire have their HQ in Yangsan which is on the Busan subway, so in the 2017 competition we have: Nexen Tire, Bugyeong University, Busan FC, Busan Transport and Busan I'Park. Busan is a footb...

Re: Europe - General 2016-17

18 year-old Han Kwang-song scored for Cagliari (against Joe Hart) on Sunday in their 3-2 defeat to Torino to make himself the first ever North Korean to score in Italian Serie A. He has come through the ranks of ISM in Perugia and looks set to sign a professional contract in the summer. He was also ...

Re: Flying Korean Football Managers?

I actually really enjoyed reading my copy of the Busan I'cons book. It's exceptionally well researched and the reprints of photos from this forum came out surprisingly well. Holyjoe could've put a bit more effort into the preface, but you can't have everything.

Re: Korean Football on Wikipedia

No O-pop, no bus porn, no chicken wings, no beer and Pim Verbeek. How do you survive?

Now that you mention it, how is Pim Verbeek in charge of a team that scores 14 goals in a match? Surely there's some sort of mistake.

Re: Korean Football on Wikipedia

If we are going down the route of moving things around though, how about moving this forum to Oman? The Oman premier league is very similar to the N-league in terms of support and quality, and I saw the national team win 14-0 earlier this week. Make up a few slogans and some funny nicknames and asi...

Re: Korean Football on Wikipedia

This place is going to die if we don't have at least some controversy. I make it only four topics updated in the last week. With the Seoul vs Anyang match coming up in the FA Cup I think we should all make some sort of effort. With that in mind, let me ask this: Is Korean football really all that di...

Re: 2017 Korean FA Cup Rounds 3 & 4

So if no one is shocked by a shock, is it still a shock? You see this also in cup competitions in Europe, a higher league team that is falling apart losing to a team that is going great guns in a lower league and people still try to call it a shock. I see that the Seoul vs Anyang match is on. The An...

It's at Sangam against Syria. I'd be surprised if it sells out. How many Syrians are there in Korea these days?

Re: 2018 World Cup qualification

It's actually quite tight now in Korea's group after they lost 1-0 to China and Syria beat Uzbekistan 1-0. Korea have a pretty big match coming up against Syria at Sangam on Mar 28th (Tuesday) which they can't really afford to lose. China breathe some life into their chances but they still have thre...

Re: Korean Football on Wikipedia

I'd love to see Rangers move to Coatbridge, but I think Lanark is a bit more likely. (Coatbridge is predominantly catholic, Lanark was famously the town that tried to get Subway to change the colour of their store from green to blue). I may have mentioned this before but I used to know a woman from...
