Re: 2017 K3 League Basic (D5) season

and a couple toward the halfway line ready for a counter-attack. Some counter-attack with eight defenders back. This all sounds a bit mysterious, but perhaps not beyond the realms of plausibility. Did the guy out on the wing ever do anything useful or was he like Calvin at recess? http://www.angelf...

Re: 2017 K3 League Basic (D5) season

So the guy just lined up the free-kick and took a direct shot at goal? How many players did Uijeongbu have back to defend the free kick? How many guys in the wall (if you remember)? Did someone go out to mark the guy on the wing?

Any video highlights? Pics?

Re: 2017 K3 League Basic (D5) season

Goyang wasn't even that adventurous on free kicks -- they received one not too far outside the box and their set-up was to have one player over the ball and a second player way out on the wing; everyone else stayed back in the Goyang half. No surprise that nothing came of it. What was the score whe...

Re: 2017 K3 League Advanced (D4) season

Do those crowd numbers look to be realistic, arrived at by a process of addition and maths, or are they still just inflated guesses? If you open the gates and let anyone in for free, how do you count the crowd? By actually just counting the people in the crowd? Sounds like a lot of bother, but maybe...

Re: K-League in the IFFHS

The links on their page are so out of date, I'm not even sure I'm on the official one. Is it this? http://iffhs.de/ The drop down bar at the top for CWR runs only from Jan 2014 to May 2014. There's a period of 2014 that has been studied in great detail with monthly reports. The great thing about the...

Re: 2017 K-League Classic

It seems like people on this forum have given up on the K-League Classic. Just like Pohang.

Re: Europe general 2017/18

Of the five clubs that Celtic can face in the next round of the Champions League, two of them are teams they played (and beat) in last year's tournament (Be'er Sheva and Astana). They played a third team, Qarabag, the year before. Qarabag have won the last 4 Azerbaijan titles, doing the double the l...

Re: Europe general 2017/18

Netherlands into the semis and Denmark upsetting Germany to join them. Thank goodness we don't have a prediction league running this year! Did I jinx the Germans? Whoops. Actually, rather stupidly I was on a train from Germany to Denmark while the match was going on (it had been postponed the previ...

Re: Europe general 2017/18

The quarter-finals of the women's Euros are set to be played this weekend in the Netherlands. Netherlands vs Sweden Germany vs Denmark Austria vs Spain England vs France Scotland were actually close to getting through and only needed another goal in their group match against Spain. Denmark have no r...

Re: Europe general 2017/18

The format of the Champions League is definitely part of what is funnelling all the money into the top few teams. It was clear from the beginning that this was part of the design. We're seeing the effects now of it being in operation for 20-plus years. The German league is not competitive at all. If...

Re: Europe general 2017/18

I don't think you can entirely blame the Champions league, you get spells like that in football. Getting to the playoff round before the group stage nets you at least 3 million euros in UEFA prize money alone. That is serious money, even in expensive countries like Denmark. You have to go back 10 y...

Re: Europe general 2017/18

I hope people in the AFC and other confederations have noticed how the UEFA Champions League has ruined domestic competition in Europe. It's well known how the likes of Juventus, Bayern, Real Madrid and Barcelona dominate their domestic leagues and also the Champions League. Juventus have won the la...

Re: European groundhopping thread

Uh-oh, you've got me counting now and I think I'm on 19. I have been promising myself I'd go watch a match in Luxembourg when there's one of sufficient importance. But when was the last time there was an important match in Luxembourg? According to someone on the Scottish news a few weeks back, you c...

Re: Europe general 2017/18

IFK Mariehamn from the Åland Islands won the Finnish league last year for the first time in their history. That would be the Finnish equivalent of a team from the Orkney Islands winning the Scottish Premiership. Their home ground in Mariehamn holds 1,635 people according to UEFA rules. 1,637 were of...
