Re: 2018 AFC Champions League

Despite the AFC's best efforts to engineer a West Asian winner of the tournament, Al Saad's controversial 2011 run to the title is still the only win by a West Asian side since Al Ittihad defended their crown in 2005..

Re: Kim Byeong Ji - The Legend

Kim was involved in a car accident towards the end of November.. initially he felt okay afterwards but a few days later had lost feeling in his legs so went to hospital and had surgery. There is considerable nerve damage and disc ruptures that may take years to recuperate from with no guarantee of a...

Re: 2017 Korean FA Cup Rounds 3 & 4

Never liked Busan, think it extremely amusing they've lost out in the promotion playoff final and also the FA Cup final in the space of a week. Not quite May 1986 Heart of Midlothian levels of hilarity but still good nonetheless...

Re: 98th National Sports Festival (2017)

This'll be the second time a K3 side has reached the final then after Cheongju Jikji in 2013. Certainly going back for the past twelve seasons (as that's all the detailed records I have) then there has only been one other non-National League finalist since the launch of the K2/National League (2003)...

98th National Sports Festival (2017)

Fuck.. nearly forgot about the 2016 edition and now the 2017 one has nearly passed me by. Things all kicked off down in Chungju on the 20th, semis to be played on October 24th with the final on October 26th. As expected the Zebras got a pasting but the other two K3 League representatives are doing r...

Re: Official K-Pop @ K-League Thread (Not Bus Porn)

Well done Suwon, you've officially killed the K-Pop @ K-League phenomenon by inviting an opera-singing, talent-contest-winning, belt-stretching British bloke to come and provide the half time entertainment instead of a bunch of scantily-clad K-Poppers. The slow but steady erosion of all that is good...

Re: 2017 K-League Classic

Jeonnam look like they're doing their best to help Gwangju stay in the top flight.. they've had a run of three consecutive home matches where they've conceded 11 in total - three to Pohang at the weekend, prior to that it was four at home to Gwangju and before that one four at home to Daegu. They're...

Re: 2017 K-League Classic

Not just the Classic that is limping towards the line... two 0-0 results in the Challenge today mean that 5 of the last 7 games have finished goalless. One of the two with goals was stopped from finishing goalless by an own goal in favour of Ansan Greeners in the fourth minute of second half injury ...

Re: 2018 World Cup qualification

If Iceland do qualify then it'll mean a return to Aberdeen representation (Kari Arnason) in a World Cup finals for the first time since 2002. There was at least one Aberdeen player at each tournament since 1978 but there have been none in 2006, 2010 and 2014... and those tournaments have been rather...

Re: The "Does he like kimchi?" thread

Erik Paartalu has entered the "who endured the worst stint at a K-League club" competition with quite a tale of his own ... In fact, Paartalu describes his time in South Korea as “eight months of hell”, where “I got f****d over by the best club in Asia”. After snaring a promising move to J...

Re: 2017 K-League Classic

Yep hadn't fully looked into the final fixtures but it's the forthcoming Daegu-Incheon game that rules automatic relegation out before the end of the split. There's a few combinations of results that at worst would see them 15 points adrift of eleventh place with fifteen to play for...
