Re: 2018 K3 League

No sign of fixtures yet, but the teams and grounds are up on the website. Pyeongtaek did get promoted, and Chungju are sensibly going to be playing in the sports park rather than the big stadium so that's another new place for the 48 club.

Re: 2018 AFC Champions League

Last time I saw a game in Hong Kong was in 2010 and South China were the big team with their big stadium. They appear to have done a Rangers (not the Hong Kong one) and disappeared from the league.

Re: The "48"

With only eight teams left in there, I guess they're happy to kept going anyway they can. From memory Cheonan Football Centre doesn't have a particularly big seating capacity either and Cheonan have been there for a good long while.

Re: The "48"

Missed last season, but if they give me a visa, I'll be back again this year and top priority in Korea is obviously going to be getting back in to the 48 club. Of the 53 teams, I reckon I'll have to visit last year's new clubs in Pyeongtaek and Busan and maybe Yeosu if they are starting this year. C...

Re: I'm turning into my mum

It's certainly a good attempt at being completely baffling.

I reckon the AFC Cup still beats it though. Who wouldn't want to watch a competition that has zonal and inter-zonal semi-finals?

Re: Classic no more, Challenge no more

I'm assuming that K-league 2 will be the top league, would hate to think Korean football is becoming sensible just as I'm moving back.

Re: 2017 K3 League Basic (D5) season

Excellent, another volleyball stadium to tick off when I'm back in Korea this winter. I've always been impressed by the atmosphere at Korean volleyball games, it's as good as the atmosphere at baseball games and with the added advantage of having something worth watching as well.

Re: 2018 World Cup qualification

Ah, not the goalscorer I was thinking of, it was the captain on the day. Can't find the article I (mis)remembered reading but it is this guy here... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed_McIlvenny I'd never have brought it up if I'd done a little research and found out that he was a soapdodger. No wonder...

Re: 2018 World Cup qualification

Ahh, back in the good old days when Britain was too good for the World Cup. If I remember rightly at least Scotland did play a small part in the 1950 World Cup with the USA goalscorer in the 1-0 win over England being very familiar with the land of haggis and irn bru. It'll be nice to see Iceland qu...

Yeah, not sure which route of not qualifying we are going to go down this time. The last minute Slovenian equalizer? Or maybe we'll go to the play offs and inevitably be drawn against Italy or Portugal.

Netherlands into the semis and Denmark upsetting Germany to join them. Thank goodness we don't have a prediction league running this year!

Re: Europe general 2017/18

I agree the fact that football has moved away from local players to teams made up of the best players from around the country, and the world is definitely a big factor. It's not so much the money, it's that if you play for Bayern Munich, Barcelona or PSG then you are going to win things and you've g...

Re: Europe general 2017/18

Nah, still not buying it that Champions League football is the cause of all this. France isn't an outlier at all. Randomly going through Wikipedia pages shows England has had four different winners in the last five years. Spain have had three. Romania three, Norway three. Admittedly Portugal has had...
