Re: 2018 Division-6 League season

Made it along to Daejeon's K6 league this morning, they were playing at Daejeon Citizen's training centre. It is a decent standard of football, maybe similar to the better junior teams in Scotland, though with more technique and less physicality. I guess when you have that many players come through ...

Paquebot and Martyrs Forever couldn't drag themselves away from the kimchi either.

Re: Game over

Aww, where else am I going to come to when I want to share my excitement about a Mokpo v Daegu quarter-final?

Farewell ROKfootball, thanks for making my time in Korea better!

Re: 2018 K3 League

Pocheon slipped up in the Advanced, allowing Gyeongju to pull further ahead at the top. No slip ups from Pocheon this weekend, they beat 3rd placed Cheongju City 4-1. But Gyeongju won by the same scoreline in Jeonju, so with two games left they'll finish top. I haven't seen Gyeongju this season, bu...

Definitely the latter I think.

Re: 2018 K3 League

What didn't you miss on Saturday! 3-0 routine win for Yangju despite their Brazilian signings disappearing to wash dishes in Mama Cho's Duck factory. Paquebot shaking more hands and getting more gifts than the Pope on a Sunday stroll through the Vatican. A visit to the Yangju club house, that has mo...

Re: 2018 K3 League

I'm up in Seoul next weekend and torn between Seoul United v Uijeongbu and Yangju v Goyang. Crowd scenes will be ugly either way I'm sure. A trip to Cabbage Country surely. They speak English up there. Have you already pm'ed paquebot? No need to PM, as soon as I cross the border the alarms will go ...

Re: 2018 Division-6 League season

I've never been much of a football player outside of the school playground. Was always more into running as a sport, and happier to be up in the stands watching Korail. The 6th division teams in Daejeon seem to be based around the different gu. They'll still be a decent enough standard for amateur t...

Four National League sides and two K3-League sides, no?

Oops, yes. I got Cheonan City mixed up with Cheongju City.

Very nice! I can definitely see myself heading across to Daejeon WC practice pitches to watch some of that on a Sunday morning.

Re: 2018 Korean FA Cup

I was at Asan a couple of weeks ago to see Asan v Citizen. It was packed to the rafters - fireworks, heavily discounted tickets and a big welcome party for the returning World Cup hero. They thought of everything... ...except putting on more than the usual three people at the ticket sales stand. I q...

Re: 2018 Korean FA Cup

Not even were Daejeon Korail knocked out by K3 opposition (Chuncheon), they don't even get a mention as a highlight of the round. :0( Cheonan City did the same to Gangneung, so that's three K3 teams in the last 16 after knocking out teams in leagues above them. There are more K3 teams left in the co...

Re: 2018 K League 1

I don't accept there was football in Korea before 1983. Next you will be trying to tell us that there was football in England before the EPL came along in 1992. It is surprising how few managers there are with no professional football experience. I wonder if it is because the skills needed are best ...

Re: 2018 K League 1

There are bound to be loads of managers who managed in the early days of the K-league, and had their playing days before there was a top flight to play in. Choi Man-hee, the first manager at Gwangju FC didn't have a professional playing career, going on to coach a high school football team after he ...
