Re: 2018 Division-6 League season

I've never been much of a football player outside of the school playground. Was always more into running as a sport, and happier to be up in the stands watching Korail. The 6th division teams in Daejeon seem to be based around the different gu. They'll still be a decent enough standard for amateur t...

Four National League sides and two K3-League sides, no?

Oops, yes. I got Cheonan City mixed up with Cheongju City.

Re: 2018 Division-6 League season

Very nice! I can definitely see myself heading across to Daejeon WC practice pitches to watch some of that on a Sunday morning.

Re: 2018 Korean FA Cup

I was at Asan a couple of weeks ago to see Asan v Citizen. It was packed to the rafters - fireworks, heavily discounted tickets and a big welcome party for the returning World Cup hero. They thought of everything... ...except putting on more than the usual three people at the ticket sales stand. I q...

Re: 2018 Korean FA Cup

Not even were Daejeon Korail knocked out by K3 opposition (Chuncheon), they don't even get a mention as a highlight of the round. :0( Cheonan City did the same to Gangneung, so that's three K3 teams in the last 16 after knocking out teams in leagues above them. There are more K3 teams left in the co...

Re: 2018 K League 1

I don't accept there was football in Korea before 1983. Next you will be trying to tell us that there was football in England before the EPL came along in 1992. It is surprising how few managers there are with no professional football experience. I wonder if it is because the skills needed are best ...

Re: 2018 K League 1

There are bound to be loads of managers who managed in the early days of the K-league, and had their playing days before there was a top flight to play in. Choi Man-hee, the first manager at Gwangju FC didn't have a professional playing career, going on to coach a high school football team after he ...

Re: 2018 K3 League

Surprised that you didn't recognise the two Brazilians, I thought the fact that they were still wearing their Goyang training kit would have given it away.

Re: World Cup 2018

Half way through now in terms of games and I reckon my predictions need a bit of a re-write. 1) Argentina to go down 2-0 at half time against Nigeria, only for Diego Maradona to jump out of the crowd, headbut Sampioli and take over as manager. Argentina win 3-2 and go on to the knock out stages to b...

Re: World Cup 2026

Any truth in the rumour that Vancouver knocked it back because they'll be bidding for a 2030 World Cup held in Cascadia?

Re: World Cup 2018

It's a work of genius. Just wait until Sweden leave the Wookie unmarked in the box, mistakingly believing him to be 170cm tall Lee Seung-woo and therefore not much of an ariel threat.

Good predictions so far. Particularly liking the one about Ronaldo already having had his time in the sun. :0)

Re: World Cup 2026

I read an article on BBC yesterday that outlined the positives and negatives of both bids, but then concluded that they didn’t really matter as the USA led bid has promised to generate twice as much money for FIFA. And FIFA still loves money.

Re: 2018 K3 League

It had to be me that was Death didn't it? Actually I was in Hel last week. We tried to go for a swim, but it was too cold. I was also at a match that only lasted 77 minutes. That's surely a sign of the end of days. I hadn't thought this through, maybe famine would apply to someone who has spent yea...

Re: World Cup 2018

Can't work out whether I like Peter Schmeichel or not. On one hand, he was a great footballer and seems a nice guy. On the other hand it seems like he can do anything and he looks younger than me despite being born a decade earlier. Just a few days to go. Predictions- Spain to win it, England to go ...
